The climb to Vigo Airport from Redondela is unique, because of the airport. The climb, near the top runs alongside the airport runway, a must for plane spotters! The airport is mainly for domestic flights serving the Rias Baixas region.
The climb starts in the town of Redondela, from the roundabout on the south approach. The road is the N-555, and the first km is relatively flat. The gradient starts to bite straight after , with ramps of 7%+ , as the road winds up through the village of A Igrexa. The road surface is good, but there is no cycling verge, so be wary to ride in single file. The road twists on past the village, with curves touching 12% in places, testing the legs. As the road passes through Millarada, the airport runway appears on the left hand side. The road runs parallel with it for a 400m section at 7%. The end of the climb is just after that point.
