The climb to Vilachán from Vilamean is a two step climb. The first part is the climb to Cristelos , followed by a false flat, and then a sharp ramp to Vilachán.
The first 4km to Cristelos are already documented. At Cristelos, we turn right on to a small false flat of 700m. At the roundabout we head straight across, and the gradient immediately shoots up. The final 2km to the top of the climb average 7.5% with ramps touching 12% in the switchbacks. The road is has a wide verge, and is traffic free. Once through the switchbacks, the road opens up on to the plain of Vilchán do Monte. This is a beautiful landscape, rocky, and full of vines and kiwi plantations.
